Relational Supervision Training

Designed Through Experience

  • Investment in Supervision

Increasingly, we find that as people develop in their careers, across various helping professions, they gain experience and seniority and are called on to develop and facilitate their less experienced colleagues.  It is often the case that senior practitioners in the fields of: drug and alcohol; specialist nursing; social work; counselling and psychotherapy find themselves supervising colleagues without a theoretical model of supervision or a framework to guide and support them in developing their supervisory practice. This Certificate in Relational Supervision is designed for those whose work involves, or will involve, the supervision of others within the helping professions.  Our training will explore relatedness to self and other and what is co-created between us, taking into account the supervisor, supervisee, client and wider field.

Those who practice from relationally based perspective, embrace a commitment to the reflective practice of supervision, because this approach enables us to better understand ourselves, our clients and the organisational contexts in which this work unfolds.  Professional development is best supported by relationships in which difficulties can be explored, challenges made and good practice confirmed. This approach fosters a culture of open communication where ideas can flourish and challenges can be embraced.

Supervision plays a crucial role in fostering health and wellbeing in various environments, including workplaces and therapeutic settings. By developing relational awareness, supervision encourages accountability, open communication, and mutual support. This interaction not only enhances professional development but also promotes emotional wellness, reducing stress and anxiety.

When supervisors prioritise the health of their supervisee's, they create a culture of safety and trust, leading to improved satisfaction. Ultimately, effective supervision is a key component in nurturing a thriving environment that seeks to make meaning of experiences and supports wellbeing for everyone involved.
